Accompanying the translations are six essays by scholars in the field of Latin American theatre who offer keen insights into the complex world of the playwright/novelist/psychiatrist de la Parra. The translations and essays explore the author's theatre written during the darkest days of the Pinochet regime as well as those of his self-proclaimed post-Pinochet era.
