Enhancing the performance of local authority efforts to both reclaim derelict land and prevent dereliction from occurring is the purpose of the strategic approach. This report presents the results of a comprehensive survey into the extent to which local authorities have adopted such a strategy and assesses the advantages of the methodology. In the concluding recommendations the potential for, and the constraints on, further development and wider adoption of the strategic approach are considered.
