Doubtless many a man about to embark for India has had some such a warning as, Oh! Do not leave your gun out; have it packed, and never open it until you land; the sea air will ruin it. I can say from experience this is all nonsense; a gun on board ship requires no more attention than every sportsman bestows upon it on shore; namely, to have it well cleaned after it has been discharged, A portion of this Chapter has been contributed, by the author, to a periodical work.
