Publisher's Synopsis

Ray married his wife Afoma in a bride-capture fashion permitted by tradition in a community in Nigeria. They had a son and a daughter-Daniel and Agbomma. When Ray was killed by his best friend, Afoma chose to marry Ray's sibling, Desmond, with whom she had two sons and a daughter. At 95, Desmond assembled his step children and biological children alike. He declared to them that his stepson and step daughter were his first son and first daughter with Daniel as the head of the family when he was no more. When Desmond died, the elders of the community refused Daniel performing the roles of a first son because tradition recognized only a biological first son for those roles. This pitched biological children against stepchildren. Daniel, the sole financier of the burial, cancelled all arrangements and asked his sister Agbomma to recover all the money advanced to his siblings. Unfortunately Agbomma was kidnapped when he travelled to recover the money by a group of unemployed university graduates called the National Association of Reformist Kidnappers, NARK. This heightened tension. Daniel in a conspiracy theory said his siblings were the mastermind of the decision of the elders and the kidnap of Agbomma. Desmond's family feud remained unsettled for over 25 years. Peace returned to the family only after one of Desmond's sons died. NARK released Agbomma but with a proviso that she must continue to conduct press conferences so its demands could be appreciated by the Federal government of Nigeria. Government finally settled with NARK accepting to meet its demands.
