In a remote mountain village, with Anna by his side, he picks up the trail of her grandfather Charlie's activities in the Pyrenees in 1944, which leads him to uncover a shocking family secret. From here on he is inexorably drawn into a web of prejudice, violence and death and is forced to face up to the realities of evil. As his relationship with Anna deepens, his research leads him to Barcelona, Southern France and a terrifying climax in a remote monastery high in the Pyrenees.
In the end Jason's book turns out to be very different from the one he had originally planned...
