Publisher's Synopsis
This colour atlas is based on the National Soil Inventory of England and Wales, which measured soil properties and collected samples for further analysis from nearly 6000 sites which were part of a regular grid, based on a 5km x 5km cell. The raw analytical data have been processed to produce a set of colour maps which displays the soil geochemistry of England and Wales. The atlas begins with a description of sampling strategy, analytical techniques and data handling, and concludes with a discussion on interpretation of the maps. The maps dealing with individual elements are accompanied by explanatory text and figures showing the statistical basis of the data.;The atlas is intended for geochemists, chemists, biochemists and geographers working in the environmental and earth sciences, agriculture and the water industry, who are concerned with soil geochemistry, waste disposal and associated environmental problems, water quality and the effective management of agricultural resources.
