Publisher's Synopsis
The Soft Color of Starvation is a collection of Henne's narrative love poetry from two lesbian relationships. She plays with the perception of reality, guilt and trust through the hallucinatory language she is known for. Having abstracted time with an alternated seasonal pacing, time never really feels solid or fast, although the latter 200 pages were written in only a month. At the time of publication, Henne is engaged to this second love.
"along the shorelineI scattered a funeral"
At only eighteen, this is Henne's second published book of poems. Select poems from this book have been featured in a number of publications, as have many of her poems from her first book, Starry Eyes, All Bright from Crying, released in October of 2020. She has received two Poets & Writers grants for her spoken word poetry, which you often can find her reading all across New York at open mics and as a featured poet at literary events.
