Publisher's Synopsis
The document describes the situation of women in contemporary Sudan which seems to be extremely precarious. The confirmed reports of mass rape coincide with abuses conducted by all the organized armed forces, army, police and paramilitary or recruited militia. However, what is the most painful is that there are written and unwritten laws, legalizing beatings, floggings and to greater extents raping. Such reported thousands of cases of women abuse in Sudan promote further examinations of the Freudian repression theories. Nevertheless, it is logical to add another existing variable, the claims of applying Islamic Shari'a laws. Gramsci's theorm of hegemony can find it motives in such milieu. Moreover, in a bestial and totalitarian environment every inhuman act is expected. That is specially true if we refer to something like collective mass rape that began in Darfur and extended to Kordofan, and Blue Nile provinces. It has been reported even in Khartoum while they were in police custody detained under what is called the Laws Public Order. The pattern is similar, of abusing the law power endowed to regular personnel in the state. They were immune by law from being prosecuted, detained or put to trials for such crimes. In civil wars infested regions, they had free hands, with full jurisdictions powers to do whatever they like provided they killed the rebels and provided stability. That turned into ugly genocides and mass killings. In cities under governmental control such rule still existed. When demonstrations erupted in September 2013, the regular police forces were not able to control them. So paramilitary forces used in civil war regions were called. Efficiently, they shot and killed the demonstrators, in cold blood and utmost prejudice. The Public order Laws were supposed to be directed to that very purpose, but they were misused to suppress people. Women were the primary targets. In conclusion, those laws emerge from metalities polluted by dogmatic paradigm and merge with absolute power structure. The latter invented methods to intimidate the whole nation through its women.
