But Liverpool wasn't what they anticipated, and neither was their Aunt Maura, who was supposed to set them on their paths to fortune. Maura turned out to be a miserable slattern, and Uncle Bart a scrounging, lascivious old man. Work was impossible to find and their money was running out.
