The course has been constructed in association with the Basic Skills Agency to ensure readability and accessibility, while offering students full coverage of the English National Curriculum.;This study book can be used in conjunction with units from the coursebook to provide integrated coverage of English and English Literature in preparation for GCSE or Certificate of Achievement qualifications.;The book is a step-by-step study of Charles Dicken's ghost story, "The Signalman". It contains group and individual activities which provide access to the text and help to develop students' understanding of the plot. Students are given support to provide focused language work and, as they progress through the narrative, they will practise ways of recording character, mood and theme. There are also opportunities for producing written coursework, including a review of "The Signalman" and the writing of a ghost story in five steps.
