The prince was the personal representative of the Augustus Maximus, the Emperor Diocletian. Diocletian and his three imperial colleagues had campaigned to restore a fractured empire under the banners of the gods of ancient Rome. And yet there were loyal soldiers of Rome that followed a different star, the rising star of Bethlehem. Those Christian soldiers had enemies in high places. It was a time of faith and superstition. In a trial of conscience, Constantine's life is transformed. And with that change comes the passing of the age. The sword is released from the stone, and the seeds of a legend are sown.
