The Order of Servites, also known as the Servants of Mary, traces its origins to 13th-century Florence, Italy, where a group of seven men came together in a shared commitment to serve the Blessed Virgin Mary. This group, known as the Seven Holy Founders, renounced their worldly possessions and dedicated themselves to a life of poverty, chastity, and obedience.
Inspired by their deep devotion to Mary and their desire to emulate her virtues of humility, compassion, and service, the Seven Founders formed a religious community focused on prayer, penance, and works of mercy.
