Why are wagon trains being found burned and their travelers massacred on closed federal lands nowhere near their Santa Fe Trail destinations and, more importantly, who is behind it all? When Hartfield's Denver-based Family Business takes on the case, Breckenridge and Sarah Elizabeth team up for the action. Posing as man and wife, Breck and Sarabeth join a wagon train in which, it turns out, they aren't the only travelers with secrets. If they can stay alive, they might just figure it all out in time to head off the massacre they know is in the works.
