Publisher's Synopsis
I woke up one morning with the Lord dealing with me to write a financial devotional. I honestly did not want to do it. We have a nice house, I've authored multiple books, my husband has four degrees, one from University of Houston, two from Rice University and one from Harvard University. Our finances are just fine, and in fact, getting better. But, after a brief and futile argument with the Lord, I finally said yes. Finances are a touchy subject with Christians and I didn't want to broach the subject. I had already written and taught the Bible study "Where's My Money?" which didn't go over that well since it went against almost everything taught in today's Bible believing churches. However, after agreeing, the Holy Spirit led me to these scriptures: The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes. The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward. Who can discern his lapses and errors? Clear me from hidden [and unconscious] faults.Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent and clear of great transgression.Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:8-14AMP Then the Holy Spirit spoke this to my spirit: "This forty day devotional will explain to people how to walk with Me supernaturally in the financial realm. I never called Adam and Eve to tithe, or to give financially to get needs met. This was not my original plan." I wrote this devotional by spending time in God's presence and waiting as He led me to scriptures and spoke to my spirit. I then wrote down what he spoke to me. So please read this as if the Holy Spirit is speaking directly to you. I also encourage you to speak the scriptures out loud because the Word of God says: So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 NKJV Be Blessed, Bethany K. Scanlon
