Sarah Morris returns home from college to care for her widowed father. Purchasing a flowerpot becomes a catalyst in her life. The store clerk had bragged it was a hand-painted original from a prestigious ceramic factory up north. Inside the flowerpot, Sarah discovers a handwritten journal, a velvet bag and a bundle of love letters. Tied up in the velvet bag are old war medals and a gorgeous ring. The items that Sarah discovers in the box lead her on an unexpected journey to trace the secret love her mother had had years before Sarah was born. Sarah inherits more than wealth as she bonds to the man her mother loved long ago. The flowerpot is the beginning of her life with Jonathan and together they weather the storms of losing ones they love and building a life for themselves.
