Publisher's Synopsis
This book came about because of on-line research I conducted. I found that male readers wanted to know about the methods other men employed when trying to interest their female partners in sex, requesting lots of detail. Female readers wanted stories about women taking the lead in sexual matters, as well as descriptions of genuine loving relationships with considerate and sensitive male partners. So I created a male character, Jim, whose hobby is seducing his wife, and a female character, his wife Betty, who shares his appetite for sex and initiates it in four chapters out of fourteen, as well as playing an active and enthusiastic part in all the others except one. I then set these two characters in a relationship that is genuinely and mutually loving, while imbuing Jim with what I hope is just the right degree of sensitivity and considerateness. The first chapter describes Jim interrupting Betty from a mundane chore, washing dishes, where she is unaware that sex is about to be added to the agenda. She is innocently and demurely dressed and at the time of Jim's interruption, sex is not even on the horizon of her mind. Yet because of his seduction campaign, she becomes aroused to such a point that she literally orders Jim to accompany her upstairs for urgent sex. This seems to imply that Jim is some kind of seduction superman, until it is revealed in chapter two that he was no better than any other man before he made the massive blunder that caused him to study all his wife's needs, reactions and body language, leading him to acquire these seduction skills. The rest of the book addresses a succession of issues which might be expected to impact on an ordinary marriage, and covers a range of sexual topics. This is not a conventional novel. On the contrary, I have used a succession of disparate stories which are deliberately narrated out of sequence. There are reasons for this choice, and progressive development still takes place through the book satisfying the reader at the end. Although my writing is sexually explicit and very detailed, I avoid using constant coarse and vulgar language, although a smattering of it is included for realism. Otherwise it consists of correct and properly used language and anatomical terms and I would classify it as "modern literature." It has been described as beautifully written, and concentrates on genuine sexual issues that might arise in a real marriage, together with their impact on the relationship of an actual couple. It does not titillate, stimulate or arouse the reader erotically. To characterise it bluntly, I would say that my text is far more likely to appeal to married, educated, middle class women between the ages of 20 and 50 than to bachelors looking for an erotic masturbation fantasy. That said, I also believe that husbands of the wives in that group could also benefit from reading this work. There is an element of humour running throughout the book to keep what is a serious subject light-hearted and enjoyable, but this has been applied with a light touch to prevent it from going too far the other way and trivialising the work. Some of the issues I raise in the book are seldom discussed publicly, and I have aired them precisely because they border on taboo. One example of this is having sex during pregnancy, which is a question likely to crop up in virtually every family that has one child on the way already. This book undoubtedly falls between a lot of different stools, and would probably give a traditional publisher nightmares because he would not know where to place it or how to promote it. The real issue is this. If you like well-written books, if you have an interest in all the various roles of sex within marriage, or if you like detailed descriptions of situations leading to a sexual outcome, you will probably find quite a lot to like in this book. It stays in the mind after it has been read, and costs less than two magazines in the UK.
