Losing a loved one, Icarus has hit a new low. As everyone passes him by, and he realizes their lives go on, he can't help but feel as alien as ever. He'd rather occupy his time and mind than grieve and mourn.
Understanding his life will never be the same again, he wishes for a chance to bring his loved one back to life, a chance to make it so they never passed. Keen on this thought, when he and others who have experienced loss hear about Wilbur's wishing stone and the Contest of Champions, they are quick to enroll themselves into the unknown and face potentially lethal trials. Hating the new transfer student, who he shares the most classes with; Icarus and his friends partake in new classes: fencing, diving, psychology, and a brand new hoverboard based sport soon to be revealed to the world and turned into a global phenomenon. Eating away at his soul is the same entity that saved him last semester... it's only grown more powerful and vague in nature. This causes him to question whether the source of his powers is something to be feared or praised. Either way, for what's about to come, he needs it, and as he'll soon come to understand, it needs him. Noble in his pursuit to save a soul, at least in his mind, Icarus must face challenges that threaten the very bonds he's only just started to nurture. Can he win this cutthroat competition? Can he bring back the one he's lost? Or will he lose himself in trying, both figuratively and literally?
