Upon the introduction of printing into England, Caxton, who had just published the prose Romance of La Morte d'arthur, gave to the world a life of Charlemagne, translated from the French Chronicles. This was a mere historical compilation, and was not popular enough to be subsequently reprinted. The title is thus given by Dr. Dibdin, in his new edition of the Typographical An tiquities.
