The story recounts the sexual awakening of Charlie Roberts, a 15 years old boy, and his carnal experiences with his governesses, various male and female friends, and acquaintances. The novel exposes the hipocrisy of a Victorian women and men and how well they masked their true selves and presented a false front to society.
