Taking a shortcut is never a good idea, but when his sister Bel insists as they head for the Festival of the Rising Stones, Heln listens anyway. Being caught by Rhyss, guard trainee and Bel's sworn enemy, is only the start of their problems.Those problems increase rapidly as ancient magic, in the form of clay golems, chases them down into a series of tunnels beneath the city. It soon becomes apparent that something larger is at work, driving them deeper and deeper into the unknown. The only clue they have is the symbol of the forest god, and their only chance of survival is their own wits.
