Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Reed of Pan: English Renderings of Greek Epigrams and Lyrics
The greater number of the epigrams which I have rendered will be found in Mr. Mackail's Select Epigrams from the Greek Anthology, for the simple reason that Mr. Mackail's selection has been made with such unerring taste and discrimination, that I could find very few epigrams of equal merit which he has not included. And I should like to add a few words of gratitude and admiration not only for Mr. Mackail's beautiful and suggestive introduction to the subject, but for the grace and dignity of his own prose renderings. I find it indeed difficult to express adequately how much I am indebted to his book. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
