Publisher's Synopsis
The French Defence (1.e4 e6) is an old strategic opening regarded as a counter-attacking opening, played by those players who want to play for a win with the Black pieces. Black avoids the symmetry from the very first move and allows White to grab space in the center claiming that he will be able to undermine that center later in the game.
In this book you will find the simplest yet quite effective way of playing the French Defence. It contains variations based on the solid central pawn chain f7-e6-d5 and the quick exchange of the "bad" light-square bishop. Therefore you don't have to memorise long complicated variations and I'm pretty sure you will love the French Defence.
