Starring 19 youth artists, 11-19 years old, and winner of 80 international film festival awards, The Race is a delightful mashup of five famous Aesop's Fables, set to music by composer Deborah Kavasch, with lyrics by Linda Bunney-Sarhad. The awards include Best Children & Family Film, Best Musical Film and many more. The five Aesop's Fables included in the film and the graphic novel:

  • The Bear and the Bees
  • The Hares and the Frogs
  • The Fox and the Grapes
  • The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
Read The Race - The Graphic Novel, act out the stories in your own way with your own sets and costumes. Invent creative Reader's Theater variations, and then rent The Race movie from Opera Modesto's website. The music is delightful, the youth artists are engaging and when you return to the graphic novel, you will hum the tunes and recognize the characters in the illustrations as old friends.

A great way to learn five famous Aesop's Fables, practice reading, develop an interest in the performing arts (and opera!) - and have a lot of fun! Not just for kids, adults love it, too!
