Publisher's Synopsis
These 17 essays, first presented at the seventh Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa congress in 2002, address the ongoing conflicts in Africa and present solutions for overcoming these conflicts and sustaining peace. Topics include the sources, management, resolution, and prevention of conflict; building democracy; and public policy throughout the African continent. The discoveries made in these essays provide a useful and novel approach to the promotion of peace in an African and international context.
