In a small town in the desert flat lands of Arizona, Michael "Micah" Joseph mourns the loss of his father. As his sadness and depression worsen, so too does his struggle with alcoholism.
Desperate to make contact with his father's soul, Micah seeks out a medium who tells him he doesn't need any help contacting the spirit world. Micah is a Purifier, capable of cleansing souls trapped in purgatory and sending them to the heavenly Forest of Beauty.
As Micah explores his incredible abilities, he finds himself drawing closer to Sandy, the young woman who works at his specialty video store, and her little brother Robby. As Micah and Sandy's friendship turns to romance, neither realizes they're being watched by a malignant force.
Lord Raptor, a demon of immense power, rules over purgatory. He's clashed with Micah's divine powers in previous lives and has no intention of losing more souls to the Purifier. When threats fail to dissuade Micah from his new path, the demon ups the ante.
To save an innocent soul, Micah and his heavenly allies will have to confront Raptor where he's most powerful: the Temple of Purgatory itself.
