This is the story of the medium James Byrne. It follows his life from early childhood as the son of a drunken, violent father, through the traumas of his teenage years of hardship and poverty under the vigilant care of his mother. When his father died, he returned in spirit to seek the forgiveness of his teenage son. It was at this point that James began to recognize his powers.;The development of James' career as a stage medium is recounted with humour and compassion. He exposes the battles against people who cannot comprehend his powers which he chooses to use to cure the sick, to comfort the dying and the dead and to help those who are haunted, grieving or unable to cope with life.
