The Portygee is a novel written by Joseph C. Lincoln. It tells the story of a Portuguese sailor named Manuel Silva who arrives in a small coastal town in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Manuel is looking for work and a new life, but he faces discrimination and suspicion from the locals who refer to him as ""Portygee"". Despite this, Manuel manages to find work as a handyman for a wealthy family and becomes involved in their affairs. Along the way, he falls in love with the family's daughter, Ruth, and faces challenges from her disapproving father and a jealous suitor. The novel explores themes of prejudice, love, and acceptance as Manuel tries to find his place in a new community.As a matter of fact he was not very hungry.
