Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Political Contests in the United States of America, Explained and Considered as Confirmatory of the Prophecy in Daniel XI., 5-45: Embracing the Period From the Origin of the Thirteen Colonies to the Present Time; In Which Is Clearly Shown the Late Civil War of 1861-'65, Together With the Rule of the Radical Party Since the Surrender of General Robert E. Lee
The reader will find no hesitation manifested by the writer, until he arrives in his reading of the last Phase of the contest. And the reason of a hesitation there, is because the events referred to in the Prophecy have not yet transpired. For it must be borne in mind, that Prophecy cannot be fully understood until verified by actual occurrences. It is very evident we are now in, or just entering into this last Phase of the Contest. If the latter, then are we upon the eve of another terrible and more awful Revolution than any that has yet occurred. Then - when it does come - let them which be in Judea ?ee into the mountain-and pray that your ?ight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day; for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
