Publisher's Synopsis
This is an advanced, detailed physical geography of Africa. The opening section identifies pan-African patterns in the physical environment and those physical attributes that are distinctive to Africa. A synoptic review of both Francophone and Anglophone literature is also provided. In the second section, topics such as geomorphology, biogeography, environmental change and hydrology are considered within the context of the major biomes. The final group of chapters explores topical issues such as soil erosion, desertification, biodiversification and depletion, and conservation and development.
