Publisher's Synopsis

The Peninsule Effect
A xenophobic attitude cut across the entire population of this rural southern waterfront Peninsula since its discovery in the early 1600s. This tale begins in the mid-1960s and primarily involves three young men two with a desire to become involved in politics and one reluctant draftee.
Walter Grange was born into a family that saw him sitting in the Governors Mansion. Initially, he had no say in the plans his parents had for him, but as he grew, and as he succeeded in his work, he wanted this political plum. A strange course of events carried him to the first plateau a seat in The General Assembly, where he looked to greener pastures.
Frank Charleston entered this world with his roots firmly planted in a long-successful and wealthy family that made its money creating economic opportunities for themselves and many others in The Peninsula. Frank was the third generation to travel this road, and while waiting for an opening in the family business, he saw unmet needs and was bit by the political bug
Jake Parks, unlike the other two Democrats was raised to hate Roosevelt and be a Republican. Political defeat became a way of life for him. Jake, his wife Lillian and their two sons grew nursery stock on some twenty acres with an old two-story house left to him by his grandfather. He thought horticulture was hard until asked to become involved in the upcoming Democratic Primary.
Old debts come to the front! Situations that neither of the three can imagine crop up, and the wheeling and dealing gets to be almost more than the heart can stand!
