Publisher's Synopsis
On July 10, 2020, the Holy Father Pope Francis approved the decree of Heroic Virtues of the Basque priest Mariano José de Ibargüengoitia y Zuloaga, placing him at the doorstep of the numerous group of holy founders that Spain has given to the universal Church. Father Ibargüengoitia was also a tireless preacher of Ignatian exercises. As a result of his experience guiding souls, he wrote this book in 1855. A few years later, he wrote another one addressed to priests who, according to Saint Anthony Claret, "should be in every priestly library." In the introduction he tells us: "The Apostolic Fathers were not content just advising the practice of the general examination. A long experience and their deep knowledge of our weakness and misery have discovered the need to add another particular to the general examination, and I believe I do good to souls desirous of their eternal health, explaining to them in this Booklet, what is this examination, its importance, and the rest that to the effect it is convenient to know."This is a revised and translated edition of the first, published in 1855.
