It begins in the jungle farmlands of Panama in 1915 at the time of the building of the Panama Canal, outbreak of Malaria (Yellow Fever), in a changing world through war. But the struggles of this native Panamanian, within her small tight knit village, will give her a solid foundation, experiencing life as an immigrant American. Part 2: Clarissa's journey takes her from Panama, to Key West, Florida as the years fly by for the little Panama Girl. With the mysterious death of Violetta, the other children slowly moving away, and Mama' is getting older, she doesn't know what lies ahead; they might lose the farm. Clarissa is exposed to the life of the Saint Mary Convent Nuns through a boarding school/Orphanage in Key West, where she planned to eventually take her vows to become a nun. But as fate would have it, she is betrayed, forced to live with a man she's never met, and sent to a place she's never been.
