The Pacific Ocean is the biggest and deepest of the world's oceans, covering almost a third of Earth's surface. Over 25,000 islands are dotted across its waters while, in the west, the huge Great Barrier Reef provides a home for some of Earth's most unique wildlife. Below the waves, the Pacific's active sea floor has created thousands of volcanoes, many of which are still active today.
