Publisher's Synopsis

The Origin Project is a political thriller involving a clandestine research project tasked with discovering the origin of the universe. After an extremely close election, fundamentalist minister L. Davis Brasington III is now the 45th President of the United States. His immediate predecessor, Jeremy Scott King, was a visionary who served brilliantly for eight years. During King's presidency, he established a secret scientific research project charged with determining the very nature of the origin of the universe. As part of its work, the team discovered a cure for cancer, Oncoleve, and made it available freely to the world. Prior to leaving office, the King administration transferred funding and control of the project to a private foundation in an attempt to protect it from future governmental meddling. But now, the new president has ordered that the project be stopped at all costs, up to and including the use of military force. The directive includes forbidding the distribution of Oncoleve, which he regards as fruit of the poisonous tree. This action leads to epic showdowns between the new president and the enigmatic chief administrator of the Origins Research Team, between supporters of each side within the nation, and between a suddenly extremist United States and the rest of the world. In the meantime, newly-elected Congressman Jackson Hall from California has been desperately trying to locate his biological mother despite court-sealed adoption records. He has availed himself of every legal avenue possible with no success. As a member of Congress, he has cultivated a political ally on the White House staff who tries to find a way to help him. But the information they uncover triggers an avalanche of consequences that could lead the world into nuclear war.
