Publisher's Synopsis
Archenstraw, Betwattled, Canbottle. For at least 200 years, local dialect words and phrases have been lost from everyday currency, and our language and culture - even our attentiveness to the world around us - has been diminished as a result. This collection of 3,000 Herefordshire words and phrases draws on a number of nineteenth- and twentieth-century glossaries and sources, to illustrate the extraordinary richness of language once heard across the county.
