This book, the first by a Pakistani author, traces the nuclear and missile programmes of India and Pakistan from their inception, and discusses their present ststus. It highlights the security models of both the adversaries and focuses on the nuclear weapons programme of both the nations shedding light on the role of outside powers in promoting or retarding the nuclear weapons status of each of the two countries. It also discusses the various theories of nuclar deterrence and suggests that the liklihood of their failure is stronger in South Asia than elsewhere.
