Publisher's Synopsis
U.S. Marine Clyde Black, who served three tours of duty during the Vietnam War, shares a collection of his memories during Vietnam - from training, getting to the war, surviving it and getting home. Black describes in detail one night in particular in the Rung Sat Special Zone and the thoughts that went through his head as he made life-or-death decisions for himself and the Vietnamese fishermen soldiers he was teamed up with. Black was considered a "co-van," to the fishermen, as "co-van" is a Vietnam word that translates to "trusted friend."
