Publisher's Synopsis
There is a monster that we are destined to create in our own image that will ultimately destroy us. Even though we feel it will deliver us, empower us, and ultimately define us, it remains our worst enemy. We feel entitled to our ability to separate the world into convenient boxes in the name of discrimination. Discrimination has always gotten a bad reputation, but it has been the cornerstone of intelligent design for eons. We can determine up from down, hot from cold, and the imbecile from the genius. Somehow, when we apply our empirical observations to the characteristics of our fellow man, we are labeled cruel and unforgiving. But forgiveness has little to do with discrimination in the long run. It remains the only tool in our arsenal that we can truly depend on for deliverance. We deserve to be delivered from the mediocre. Evolution has served to grace us with the tools to single out the fools of our society. We can grow to become more than the sum of our humble parts. Less than the collection of mistakes that we pile endlessly one upon the other throughout time. We can become more than merely the monster. Even though each of us is in love with the personal shortcomings found within ourselves. Our creator gave us this gift, this discriminating collection of thoughts. Perhaps He has set us off against each other for His own amusement. Now, who is the cruel one? Now, who bears the responsibility for the flesh and mind that is less than kind? The creator is my scorekeeper, I shall not want. He maketh me reject my brother and cast him upon the calm waters, hoping against hope that he will not rise up again and draw another breath. He gives us a license to chase the monster into windmills with our flaming torches. He gave us hate, and we know how to use it.
