Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Memory of the Just: A Memorial Discourse, Preached December 6th, 1857, on the Occasion of the Death of Mrs. Abigail Hopkins

There is an excellence and a positive beauty in the life and example of a just person which men will not let die. There is a recognized good, a real element or social wealth in the char acter of one who truly exemplifies the righteousness of the Gospel of Christ, that makes it a blessing, to which the hearts of men will cling, and around which, after the substance of it is taken away, they will cluster ther fondest recollections, re newing in their faithful memories, that of which the real pre sence is now denied to them. Thus the righteous renew their lives upon the earth, and though dead, yet speak, and yet act.
