Publisher's Synopsis
This is the first time the "Account Book" of of the Servant of God, the Reverend Prince Demetrius A. Gallitzin (1770-1840) is published. The present work includes a re-edition of a dense commentary to his "Memorandum Book," published in 1893 by Augustinian Father Thomas C. Middleton, who made an incredible detailed analysis of the original manuscript. In addition, as an introduction to the above mentioned works, it is included the transcription of an original French autograph of the Reverend Prince addressed in 1825 to Russian Emperor Alexander I, with a reliable English translation of 1892, because in that statement Gallitzin remembers his financial troubles, pursuing always the same goals: serve his parishioners as a good shepherd and die without debts. In these, he gave to the future generations a limpid example of a good administrator, as it can be concluded from a careful study of the "Memorandum Book" and the "Account Book."
