Publisher's Synopsis
Strawberry & Cracker are twins with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) who live with their grandmother. The Meltdown emphasizes how meltdowns occur for children with FAS, and the difference between a meltdown and a tantrum. The story begins with the twins needing new shoes. Grandma discovers a sale at the local mall but, once there, the extreme sights and sounds in the store overcome Strawberry and she melts down. Rushing to her side, Grandma helps with noise cancelling headphones and dark glasses. Blaming Strawberry for their having to leave the store before buying new shoes, Cracker throws a tantrum. Shelves are overturned and shoes tossed around. In desperation, Grandma leaves the store. However, all ends well when she manages to soothe the twins and buy them new shoes. More titles in the series, Strawberry & Cracker, Twins with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, are The School Day, Fidget!, Advocate!, The Twins Learn Of Their Disorder, The Twins Cause Havoc, The Birthday Bash, and The Twins' Sensory Smarts. Suitable for children ages 5-12 years of age.
