Publisher's Synopsis

The primary purpose of the Trompenaars database is to help managers structure their cross cultural experiences in order to develop their competence for doing business and managing across the world. The database is one of the world's richest sources of social constructs.;The main findings from the original research have been widely disseminated since first published in 1993 (Trompenaars) with recent updates 1998 (Trompenaars and Hamden-Turner). These outcomes are expressed as generalizations to inform and enhance management practice. Research is continuing to refine the diagnostic instruments, to extend the number and variety of sub-cases and to derive and execute new methods of knowledge elicitation.;In response to many requests from practising managers, researchers and others seeking more background and detail, this monograph reviews analysis undertaken by the two authors to develop aspects of the methodological approach underpinning this work and describes some of the frameworks and new techniques they had to develop in the quest.
