Publisher's Synopsis

A German boy soldier is thrust into battle mere weeks before capitulation and is captured by the Russians who send him to a Siberian work camp. The boy spends 10 years behind the wire before being finally released. Following his return to West Germany, he is at first unable to find his widowed mother and his girlfriend. In due course, he learns that his mother was arrested, tried and shot for speaking out against Hitler. The boy who is now a twenty seven year old bitter and angry man is determined to confront those who had so cruelly killed his mother and, in doing so, sets in motion a string of events leading to murder, intrigue and scandal uncovering previously hidden war crimes the exposure of which threatened to bring down the post war West German government.
