The fragments have been ordered altogether ac cording to their contents, as was natural in a work intended for English readers. However, it is evi dent that this results in often placing a short frag ment far away from Others of the same poem or from poems of the same general character, and, conversely, in bringing together fragments from widely diverse kinds of lyric.
