Publisher's Synopsis

The Lord Slynn of Hadley European Law Foundation was created in 1999, on the initiative of His Honour George Dobry CBE QC, to fulfil a growing need for support, advice and training to lawyers particularly from countries of Central and Eastern Europe, many of which countries are now members of the European Union. The Foundation has been named after Lord Slynn in recognition of his great contribution to the development of the principles and practice of European Law in its broadest sense. The purpose of the Foundation is to promote better understanding between Britain and these countries and to contribute to the development of joint action. This has been through meetings between judges of these countries and from the UK, through lectures and seminars to lawyers at all levels who specialise in European Law, and by creating and awarding fellowships which enables promising young lawyers to spend a year studying and working in the UK. A regular newsletter is published and can be found on the website.
