OB is a first-person, self-reflective narrative serving as a qualitative, longitudinal research project investigating what it means to be, using tools like astrology to explore human consciousness.
Volume 6 documents the protagonist Ana's year 2014, when she travels to South America and learns Spanish as a 23-year-old, visitando varias ciudades en Uruguay, Argentina y Chile, y conociendo a la gente y las culturas diversas mientras luchaba con aprender el idioma.
As On Being is the written evolution of Ana's consciousness throughout time in the form of personal, intimate diaries, and she was immersed in the Spanish language for the entire year of 2014, it follows that she would begin writing in Spanish. Thus this book is full of code-switching and linguistic experimentation that mixes English and Spanish. If you don't speak Spanish and/or have no interest in reading/learning it, ¡este libro no es para vos!
