Of these exiles, the father of Napoleon, Charles Buonaparte, was the principal descendant. He was educated at Pisa, for the profession of law; and is stated to have possessed a very handsome person, a talent for eloquence, and a vivacity of in tellect, which he transmitted to his son. He was a patriot also, and a soldier, and aided in the gallant resistance, made by Paoli, in the reign of Louis XV., to the French.
