Remonstrant (or Arminian) minister and professor at Amsterdam, published, in 1671, that great work, 'the History of the Reformation in the Low Coun tries, ' which has elicited very general admiration for the impartiality of its spirit, the nobility of its senti ments, and the valuable and soul-stirring character of many of its records.
