Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Life Story of J. Pierpont Morgan: A Biography
The author faced these difficulties, and found them difficulties. As for the book, let it be said at once that it was conceived and written independently by the author; there was never the least in?uence or dictation from without. The material was gathered because the subject was interesting and the opportunities lay close at hand. And the argument, above referred to, grew of itself out of a close study of this material, and much questioning. It seems to be pointing to the conclusion that Mr. Morgan's life has been one of usefulness and benefit to in dustry and to the country. This effect was unintentional, was not preconceived. But it was the perfectly inevitable result of aim ing at truth and avoiding caricature.
