He played in various venues across Europe and North America, including in the United States where he encountered racism and discrimination. Levy also fought in the War of 1812 and served in the United States Army, becoming one of the first Jewish soldiers to fight for the country. Throughout the book, Levy reflects on his life experiences and shares his thoughts on religion, politics, and society. He also includes anecdotes about his encounters with famous figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington.
